A new faith for people of African descent

ALB Book Publishing company features a new book by Hip-hop activist Sean XLG Mitchell. The book offers an alternative to religion for Black America with the new book and daily practice "Afrospirituality". Inspired by the "Autobiography of Malcolm X", Afrospirituality is an African-centered and culturally enriched faith designed to address the problems and needs of the Black community and to empower Black people in America and worldwide. "Most races of people have beliefs that are based on tradition, and culture is the centerpiece that unites and mobilizes the masses of their people," stated Sean XLG Mitchell. "I used this formula to create the faith."

"Afrospirituality" is deeply rooted in ancestral principles and practices with a modern-day perspective on mindfulness that speaks to the advancement of faith in a contemporary world. The author, well-known in the hip hop arena, says that he has read over 300 books in the last 30 years and has been actively involved in working in the Black community. In addition, he's a former deacon and ordained minister who has studied African history from scholars such as Asante, Akbar, Clarke, Ivan Van Sertima, and a host of others. The work reflects a compilation of his experience and dedication.

"I think it's important for us to do as much as we can to contribute towards improving our lives and conditions," says Mitchell. "It's not going to happen overnight, but it won't happen at all if we don't do anything to make the necessary changes to better ourselves." The practice centers on the development of culture, a significant factor in the unity of most races of people. Sean adds, "Our period of enslavement interrupted our cultural continuity, which created a divide among our people. We must work together to recapture and reclaim it if we're going to advance from where we are." Afrospirituality is a daily practice that shows a correlation between culture and power in all areas of life from education to economic growth with a focus on self-development.
