The title of the Apple TV+ Godzilla series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, and we have some first look images from the show!

We’ve been following the progress of the Apple TV+ TV series expansion of Legendary Entertainment’s Monsterverse series (which currently consists of Godzilla, Kong: Skull Island, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Godzilla vs. Kong, and the Netflix animated series Skull Island), and today we have huge new update to share with you. Apple TV+ has officially announced that the title of the show is Monarch: Legacy of Monsters – and along with the title reveal comes the unveiling of a batch of first look images that feature cast members Kurt Russell, Wyatt Russell, Anna Sawai, and Godzilla!

We previously heard that Godzilla has a “very important role” in the series.

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is set after “the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that leveled San Francisco and the shocking revelation that monsters are real” (as seen in Godzilla 2014). The series tracks two siblings following in their father’s footsteps to uncover their family’s connection to the secretive organization known as Monarch. Clues lead them into the world of monsters and ultimately down the rabbit hole to Army officer Lee Shaw (played by Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell), taking place in the 1950s and half a century later where Monarch is threatened by what Shaw knows. The dramatic saga – spanning three generations – reveals buried secrets and the ways that epic, earth-shattering events can reverberate through our lives.

The Russells and Sawai are joined in the cast by Kiersey Clemons, Ren Watabe, Mari Yamamoto, Anders Holm, Joe Tippett and Elisa Lasowski.

The series was co-developed by Chris Black (Star Trek: Enterprise) and Matt Fraction (Hawkeye). Matt Shakman (WandaVision) directed the first two episodes of the ten episode run.

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is coming our way from Legendary Television. Black, Fraction, and Shakman are executive producing the series with Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell from Safehouse Pictures, as well as Andy Goddard, Brad Van Arragon, and Andrew Colville. Hiro Matsuoka and Takemasa Arita executive produce on behalf of Toho Co., Ltd., the owner of the Godzilla character.

A premiere date for Monarch: Legacy of Monsters hasn’t yet been announced, but it’s probably not too far off. Beyond this show, Godzilla vs. Kong director Adam Wingard is working on a follow-up to that film called Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.
