Randy Foye & Ashley Howard Lead Collective to Maximize NIL Endorsement Opportunities and Help Student-Athletes Grow Their Brands

PHILADELPHIA - October 11, 2022 - (Newswire.com)

Former members of the Villanova Wildcats family and community leaders in the Philadelphia area have partnered with Blueprint Sports, the industry leader in full-service Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) collectives, to unveil Friends of Nova — the first NIL collective supporting men's basketball student-athletes at Villanova University. As one of the nation's premier basketball programs, the Villanova Wildcats have won the NCAA D-1 National Championships three times, most recently in 2016 and 2018.

Friends of Nova is spearheaded by Randy Foye and Ashley Howard, two legacy members and well-known figures of the Villanova men's basketball family. Both having deep ties to Villanova University's athletics program, Howard and Foye will serve as co-executive directors of the Friends of Nova collective. Howard previously served as the assistant coach for Villanova University's men's basketball team from 2013 to 2018 under then-Head Coach Jay Wright. Foye played on Villanova University's men's basketball team from 2002 to 2006, before being drafted in the first round of the 2006 NBA Draft and beginning his professional basketball career.

"Playing basketball at Villanova University was the honor of a lifetime and this opportunity to kick off Friends of Nova really means a lot to me," said Foye. "We are thrilled to give back and work hand in hand with supporters, fans, community members and alumni to build something meaningful and open doors to new possibilities for future generations of student-athletes."

Local and national businesses, as well as community supporters, have multiple options to engage with Villanova student-athletes. Friends of Nova builds partnerships between businesses, brands, and student-athletes for marketing opportunities, including online influencer campaigns, local appearances, youth sports coaching, speaking engagements, and more. Additionally, tax-deductible contributions can also be made through the BPS Foundation, a 501(c)(3) partner organization formed to educate, encourage, and assist student-athletes in their efforts to engage with the local community through charitable causes.

"Friends of Nova will allow us to help provide opportunities for student-athletes to not only capitalize on their name, image and likeness, but connect with their community and learn about financial literacy," said Howard. "I look forward to spearheading this initiative alongside Randy to help support our Wildcat family and help the Villanova community be a part of something bigger."

NEW YORK - October 11, 2022 - (Newswire.com)

From Oct. 11-14, 2022, over a dozen Asian and Pacific Islander (API) nonprofits across the country are launching Civic Action Week, organized by Gold House, to encourage voting, philanthropy, and vaccines. The week will highlight national and local resources heading into midterm elections and flu season, from the Filipino Voter Empowerment Project's PSA starring Timothy Granaderos to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' COVID-19 education campaign We Can Do This

"The pandemic has been particularly hard on many Asians and Pacific Islanders facing increasing socioeconomic challenges. We must mobilize to protect our rights and our health," said Jeremy Tran, COO of Gold House, one of the nonprofits leading Civic Action Week.

Indeed, the collective power of APIs should not be overlooked. Asian American voter turnout surged by 47% nationally and across all presidential battleground states in 2020, becoming the margin of victory in key states like Georgia. Asian Americans also assumed some of the highest national and local offices for the first time — from U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris to Mayors Michelle Wu (Boston), Aftab Pureval (Cincinnati), and Bruce Harrell (Seattle).

These victories did not come easily, however.

Barriers to voting access continue to exist in critical states like Texas, where a recent poll by Asian Texans for Justice showed that 64% of the API electorate are eager to vote.

"South Asians in Texas are up against major obstacles at the ballot box," warns Krisan Swaminathan, Chair of SAAVETX. "Voter suppression laws ensnare our people in antiquated voter registration regulations, complicated ballot access, and stringent voter identification requirements. This directly impacts immigrant communities."

Many API communities have also been facing limited healthcare and financial resources, despite increasing challenges in recent years.

"With the prevalence of chronic illnesses among Pacific Islanders and likeliness of our communities living in multi-family and multi-generational households, prioritizing health in our community today is key to ensuring we aren't one of the hardest hit communities in the next health crisis," Karla Thomas, Deputy Director of EPIC, explains.

But with less than 1% of philanthropic dollars going to API nonprofits, these organizations are working together to empower their communities through creative ways like Civic Action Week.

"Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders have faced many challenges over the past few years. But as a community, we did not stay silent," says Kevin Hirano, Director of Operations and Development of APIAVote. "The change we want and need can only happen when we vote and take others with us to the polls."

InWave brings Korean culture and entertainment to North Carolina for the sixth time with world-renowned festival

RALEIGH, N.C. - October 10, 2022 - (Newswire.com)

From Nov. 19-20, 2022, non-profit organization InWave will host KoreaFest 2022 at the NC State Fairgrounds. Held in the Exposition Center, located at 1025 Blue Ridge Rd., Raleigh, NC 27607, the event will take place from 9:30 a.m.-8 p.m. on Nov. 19 and 11:30 a.m.-6 p.m. on Nov. 20. Extended from a singular day and returning in person after 2021's virtual experience, festival attendees will have the opportunity to surround themselves with food, dance, music, and historical educational activities showcasing the majesty, tradition, and beauty of Korean culture.

After the isolation of lockdown, KoreaFest 2022 seeks to bring back a sense of community. Moreover, InWave strives to assist in connecting the global community to the locals of North Carolina by connecting international Korean culture to the Korean diaspora community located in Raleigh, North Carolina. InWave hosted the first Korean festival in the state of North Carolina in February of 2017 and since then has been successfully upholding its mission of ''Celebrating Unity Through Korean Culture." InWave's goal is to share the love of all aspects of Korean culture with everyone in the local and global community. For those who may feel hesitant because they may not be familiar with the language or the culture, InWave offers the opportunity to immerse themselves, learn, and connect with Korea. The Korean Wave has become a global phenomenon over the last 10 years and thanks to community support, the festival has grown and will continue to encourage individuals from across the country to attend next month.

The festival's scheduled programming includes a variety of activities related to Korean culture, highlighting the country's impact on the world. Of note on Saturday will be: interactive cultural exhibits, panel discussions on Korean heritage from multinational perspectives, and traditional Korean performances by groups like the Youn Duck Kyung Dance Company, along with competitions for K-pop dance, Korean singing, and creative Tae Kwon Do. The contests are being judged live on Saturday, Nov. 19, and feature cash prizes totaling over $6,000. Sunday, Nov. 20, will mark KoreaFest's first fully fledged music festival schedule, featuring performances from local and international artists like DJ Moobek, HeeSun Lee, Hwang In Sun, and Jamon Maple. Another highlight will be a dance mini-class by professional K-pop choreographer Sea Ni. Many may recognize Sea Ni from his collaborations with K-pop groups like NCT, TVXQ, and SuperM. The festival will end with the U.S. debut performance of K-pop boy group RoaD-B, managed by Campus Entertainment.

Tickets for KoreaFest 2022 are currently available for purchase on Eventbrite, with Early Bird specials running from now until Nov. 11. Tickets can also be purchased at the door on both days at slightly higher rates. For more details about the event, please visit KoreaFest's official website at nckoreafest.com or connect with InWave via FacebookInstagram, and email.
