Rob Delaney is joining the cast of Marvel’s Deadpool 3 to reprise his role as Peter, the human X-Force team member from Deadpool 2.

The dead shall rise when Deadpool 3 comes to theaters! Do you remember Peter, the human X-Force team member played by Rob Delaney? He’s back, baby! Delaney is joining the cast of Deadpool 3! While the plot remains a mystery, Delaney’s Peter died in 2018’s Deadpool 2 after trying to save Zeitgeist from a wood chipper, only to have the X-Force hero vomit acid bile on him, killing him on the spot. However, due to some time travel shenanigans at the film’s end, Deadpool brought Peter back from the dead, so his involvement with Deadpool 3 is fair game.

Delaney joins other actors returning to the Deadpool franchise, including Karan Soni, Leslie Uggams, Morena Baccarin, and Stefan Kapicic. Delaney’s Peter is a human with no powers. However, Deadpool is a quirky guy who admires Peter’s can-do attitude. Peter genuinely wants to help Deadpool save the day, and it’s not a bad idea to have a cheerleader on your team with lots of spunk.

Marvel’Deadpool 3 features Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman as Wade Wilson (Deadpool) and Wolverine, respectively. Fans never expected Jackman to reprise his role as the Canadian beer-swilling mutant, but Reynolds is a persuasive son of a gun. Speaking with ET Canada, Reynolds revealed how the heroes from the Great White North joined forces.

“It’s been fun,” Reynolds told the outlet. “He and I are both really excited. We’ve wanted to do this for a decade. So, to have this opportunity now is, I think actually weirdly, the perfect time.”

Regarding what it took for Jackman to pop his claws again for what I hope is a buddy action film of epic proportion, Reynolds said, “I mean, I never stopped. I was just pestering him like a gnat over the last many years. I actually just think… I believe in timing … and I think he was ready.”

Reynolds continued, “I think he was excited and what we pitched him was enough of a divergence from the character that he knows and the character that he’s left behind, that it gives him something completely new to play and something that he’s really excited to do.”

What do you think about Delaney’s Peter returning for more superhero shenanigans? Will he play a more significant role in Deadpool 3, or will he die immediately as a throwback gag? I hope we see him in a super suit kicking all kinds of all, but watching him bite it after joining Deadpool again would also be hilarious. We’ll find out when Deadpool 3 comes to cinemas on November 8, 2024.
