Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, Renfield, The Pope’s Exorcist, Mafia Mamma, and Moving On reach Vudu tomorrow
The comedy Moving On, the latest Jane Fonda / Lily Tomlin collaboration, reached theatre screens back on March 17th. Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, based on the Dungeons & Dragons fantasy role-playing game franchise, was released on March 31st. The “Nicolas Cage as Dracula” comedy Renfield followed on April 14th. So did the “Russell Crowe vs. the forces of evil” film The Pope’s Exorcist and the action comedy Mafia Mamma. Now they’re all set to reach Vudu, Fandango’s premium on-demand video service, on the same day, and that day is tomorrow. May 2nd!
Viewers will be able to watch each of the films in SD, HD, or UHD for the following prices: Renfield, The Pope’s Exorcist and Mafia Mamma will be available for $24.99, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves for $19.99, and Moving On for $12.99.
Written and directed by Paul Weitz, Moving On has the following synopsis: Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin star as estranged friends who reunite to seek revenge on the petulant widower (Malcolm McDowell) of their recently deceased best friend. Along the way, Fonda’s character reunites with her great love (Richard Roundtree) as each woman learns to make peace with the past and each other.
John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein directed Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, working from a script they crafted with Michael Gilio (who shares story credit with The Tomorrow War and Renfield director Chris McKay), Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves follows a charming thief and a band of unlikely adventurers as they embark on an epic quest to retrieve a lost relic. Things go dangerously awry when they run afoul of the wrong people.
Based on a treatment written by The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, Renfield was directed by Chris McKay from a screenplay by Ryan Ridley. In Bram Stoker’s novel Dracula, R.M. Renfield was an inmate at a lunatic asylum who was thought to be suffering from delusions but actually is a servant of Dracula. In this film, Renfield has been serving the bloodsucker for centuries, and now he has grown sick and tired of his centuries as Dracula’s lackey. The henchman finds a new lease on life life and maybe even redemption when he falls for feisty, perennially angry traffic cop Rebecca Quincy. Nicholas Hoult plays the title character.
Overlord‘s Julius Avery directed The Pope’s Exorcist from a screenplay by Evan Spiliotopoulos, with revisions by Chuck MacLean. The script was based on original drafts by Chester Hastings & R. Dean McCreary, which received revisions from Michael Petroni. Crowe takes on the role of real-life figure Father Gabriele Amorth, a priest who acted as chief exorcist of the Vatican and who performed more than 100,000 exorcisms in his lifetime. Amorth wrote two memoirs and detailed his experiences battling Satan and demons that had clutched people in their evil.
Directed by Catherine Hardwicke from a script crafted by Michael J. Feldman, Debbie Jhoonm, and Amanda Sthers, Mafia Mamma stars Toni Collette and tells the following story: A mild-mannered suburban mum unexpectedly inherits her late grandfather’s mafia empire in Italy. Guided by the firm’s trusted consigliere, she hilariously defies everyone’s expectations as she finds herself stuck in the middle of a deadly mob war.
