Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Disney+ premiere brings the lovable a-holes’ final mission to home theaters!
After grooving to an $842M+ worldwide theatrical total, Marvel‘s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is ready to take flight on Disney+. The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Disney+ premiere blasts off on August 2, bringing the team’s final mission to homes across planet Earth.
In Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, our beloved band of misfits are settling into life on Knowhere. But it isn’t long before their lives are upended by the echoes of Rocket’s turbulent past. Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team around him on a dangerous mission to save Rocket’s life—a quest that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them.
James Gunn directs Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 from a script he wrote for Marvel Studios. Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Pom Klementieff, Daniela Melchior, Michael Rosenbaum, Sylvester Stallone, Will Poulter, Karen Gillan, Chuckwudi Iwuji, Sean Gunn, and Maria Bakalova lead the cast.
Now that James Gunn is busy with the DC Universe, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will likely be his final Marvel movie. However, that doesn’t mean that we won’t see these beloved characters again; In fact, the last thing we saw in the movie’s post-credit scene was a tag reading “The Legendary Star-Lord Will Return.”
During the director’s commentary for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (via The Direct), James Gunn teased a Star-Lord project to deal with the hero adapting to his new life back on Earth. “We always want to give somebody a little something special,” Gunn said. “And Chris and I, forever, have talked about how great it would be to be able to do a ‘Legendary Star-Lord’ movie, a story with Star-Lord on Earth trying to adapt to the environment of Earth in the same way that somebody else might try to adapt to the alien environment of outer space. He’s a fish out of water in just kind of regular water. So I can’t wait to see it.” Whether the Star-Lord spin-off project ever gets made remains to be seen, but if it did, it could fall to someone other than James Gunn.
