We talk with Priya Kansara and Ritu Arya about their movie, Polite Society, written and directed by Nida Manzoor.
It’s refreshing stepping into a film with no expectations. That was my experience with a fun and fanciful action comedy called Polite Society. Written and directed by Nida Manzoor, the film takes a wild direction with the idea of an arranged marriage in a modern era. Telling the story of two sisters, one of whom falls madly in love with a dashing and wealthy stranger. Her sister is terrified that the man and his mother have insidious plans for her sibling. The comedy works, as does the action, and the films stars, Priya Kansara and Ritu Arya are terrific together.
Before the film’s release, I sat down with both Priya Kansara and Ritu Arya to talk about their latest. The two were a joy to speak with, and it was nice to hear how they became involved with this original and entertaining feature. They opened up about playing sisters, and working with Nida Manzoor. It’s truly refreshing to see fresh faces in original productions. And this one is currently playing at a theatre near you. In a world where many smaller films face a few extra challenges, I recommend seeking out Polite Society. Especially if you are craving something refreshingly unique. It’s a fun flick, one that celebrates stunt work and humor with a huge heart. Check out our review here!
The film has the following synopsis: A martial artist-in-training believes she must save her older sister from her impending marriage. After enlisting the help of her friends, she tries to pull off the most ambitious of all wedding heists in the name of independence and sisterhood.
