DeWanda Wise and Guy Pearce are set to star in the possession thriller Killing Faith, with Tim Roth in talks to join them

DeWanda Wise of Jurassic World: Dominion is set to star in the possession thriller Killing Faith alongside Guy Pearce (Prometheus), with Tim Roth (Pulp Fiction) currently in final negotiations to join the cast as well. The project has already secured a SAG interim agreement, so it will be able to go into production in January of next year even if the SAG strike is still going on by then. Filming will take place in New Mexico.

Written and directed by Ned Crowley, Killing Faith will see Pearce taking on the role of Dr. Bender, a faithless physician who agrees to escort an anguished mother (Wise) on a journey across a treacherous desert. The mother is hopeful of finding a cure for her daughter’s mysterious illness: she is possessed by the devil.

Roth will be playing a character called Preacher Ross.

Ellen Wander and Jordan Dykstra of Film Bridge International are producing Killing Faith in partnership with Summer Crockett-Moore and Tony Glazer of Choice Films. Jack Christian and D.J. McPherson serve as executive producers for Filmology Finance. David Guglielmo is also executive producing.

Crowley told Deadline that getting the chance to work with this cast will be a “dream come true. They are true actors’ actors, unafraid to delve into the depths of morally complex characters.”

Film Bridge International is currently presenting Killing Faith to potential distributors at the American Film Market, and has already set up deals with Falcon Films in the Middle East/North Africa, Signature Entertainment in the UK, Umbrella Entertainment in Australia and New Zealand, Russian Report in CIS, Blitz Film Group in Ex-Yugoslavia, and Monolith in Poland.

Killing Faith sounds interesting to me, especially with the cast Crowley has assembled, so I look forward to seeing how it’s going to turn out.

Ned Crowley previously directed the 2008 romantic comedy Parting Words and the 2016 crime comedy Middle Man. With Killing Faith going into production in 2024, he has a nice “one movie every eight years” pattern going on.
